Trust & Transparency

CaseLock is an independent community defense intelligence platform built and maintained by a small team of civic researchers, developers, and community advocates. It is not owned or controlled by any government agency, utility company, data center operator, political party, or law firm.

CaseLock was created because communities fighting infrastructure projects, utility overreach, and government corruption often lack the tools, records, and analysis that well-funded opponents take for granted. Our mission is to level that playing field.

CaseLock is supported by the people who use it — not by organizations being investigated. Our funding comes from:

• Community donations — voluntary contributions from users who find CaseLock valuable
• Attorney evidence access fees — verified attorneys pay to access anonymized, opt-in evidence bundles for case evaluation
• Personal investment — substantial personal funding has gone into building and maintaining the platform

CaseLock does not accept funding from utility companies, data center operators, developers, or any organization that could create a conflict of interest with our community defense mission.

Community contributions support: hosting, AI processing costs, document storage, public-record preservation, ongoing development, independent research, security, and community tools.

Case AI (Ask Case) is an AI assistant that helps users understand documents, find references, summarize records, create timelines, and identify connections across public information.

Case AI does not:

• Provide legal advice
• Pretend to be a person
• Make unsupported allegations about individuals or organizations
• Access private evidence without consent
• Replace verification against original source records

AI-generated analysis is always labeled as Case AI Analysis and is distinguishable from Verified Public Record and Community Report.

AI analysis may contain errors. Always check AI findings against the underlying source records.

CaseLock distinguishes between four levels of information:

• 🌐 Public — Visible to everyone. Includes FOIA documents, public records, dossiers, connection maps, public community posts, petitions, and events.
• 👥 Community — Visible to CaseLock users. Includes civic group discussions and profile activity.
• 🔒 Private — Visible only to you and authorized parties. Includes private evidence submissions, case files, messages, and account settings.
• 🕶️ Anonymous — No attribution. Includes anonymous posts and anonymous evidence submissions.

When you submit evidence or create a post, CaseLock clearly indicates who can see it before you submit. You control your own privacy settings.

Attorneys who request access to evidence bundles must pass verification:

• Bar number and state are verified against public attorney records
• Stated practice area is reviewed
• Each evidence-access request goes through manual approval
• Attorneys pay an access fee that supports CaseLock's operations

Evidence is only shared with attorneys when the submitting user has explicitly opted in to attorney sharing. Users can revoke consent at any time. Attorneys who unlock evidence can contact the submitter only if the submitter has enabled attorney contact.

Because CaseLock publishes research about real people, companies, and governments, we take accuracy seriously.

Content categories are always labeled:

• Verified Public Record — sourced from government records, FOIA responses, or official documents
• CaseLock Analysis — analytical work by CaseLock researchers
• Case AI Analysis — AI-generated findings
• Community Report — user-submitted reports and allegations (not verified by CaseLock unless labeled "Source-Checked")

A user allegation is never presented as verified fact. "Source-Checked" status means CaseLock has reviewed the claim against public records, not that it has been independently adjudicated.

Corrections: Every published dossier and investigation supports "Report an error / Request correction." Submissions are tracked through review, change, and correction-note stages. If CaseLock publishes something inaccurate, we correct it and note the correction.

Every serious factual claim on CaseLock should be traceable. Where possible, we show: source, document, page, date, and agency.

Public records link to their original source. FOIA documents include filing date, agency, and jurisdiction. Connection map relationships cite the supporting record. This is a central CaseLock trust feature — if we can't show the source, we say so.

CaseLock is supported by the people who use it, not by organizations being investigated. This independence is core to our mission. We do not accept advertising. We do not sell user data. We do not accept funding from entities that could compromise our community defense mission.

If a potential conflict of interest ever arises, it will be disclosed publicly on this page.
